Attention-seeking chickens....

The chickens spent most of the day in the garden, having been let out quite early for a summer-holiday day! They proceeded to dig up flower bulbs from the flower pots and regularly pecked on the patio windows when it rained! We are entrusting them to the care of a neighbour for the weekend so the next blog entry will be on Monday! Have a good weekend chicks!

Digging...

The chickens have decided that the nice warm soil next to the wall is a good place for a dust bath and have hollowed it out....

Bedtime...

The chickens generally settle down towards the end of the day, but they can be difficult to get back in to the coop - the wheelbarrow makes a useful shelter! Amy, Ted and Emily helped get them in tonight!

Soggy Day

What an awful day! We have been out all morning but are a bit fed up of the rain now so have gone back to the coop - it was fine under the trees for a while but the rain keeps coming down!

This picture was taken yesterday morning as we were waiting to come out!

Running....but don't know where!

This was a few seconds after the chickens had been let out of the coop this morning! One will run and the others follow until they realise that the first one has forgotten why she was running!

Time for bed.....

Early night tonight as the chickens are all tired from their mission of ridding the garden of snails!

Meet the cockerels....

It seems to be emerging that all five of the white chickens are boys - which means we won't be keeping them much beyond the summer....this one is starting to look fine!

Introducing.....Henny Penny

Henny Penny is easy to identify as she is almost all brown.....don't tell the others but we think she is the prettiest of the hens!

Afternoon rest!

It is not often that all ten chickens are in the same place in the garden! Here they are having a mid-afternoon rest on top of the run! They have now had some corn and gone to bed for the evening....

Danger!

A little bit of a panic in the henhouse when a cat appeared in the garden! Chaos as the chickens scattered and the cat ran away over the wall! Phew!
